Frequently asked questions about the site
Where do the pay figures come from?
From each country’s official statistics. In the United States, the Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics survey published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics; in the United Kingdom, the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings from the ONS; in Canada, the federal wage series behind the Job Bank and Statistics Canada; in Spain, Italy, Germany and France, the national statistical institutes and Eurostat. Every page names its own source and reference period.
Is this what I will be paid?
No. It is a statistic about jobs that already exist in the stated period: the median is the middle value of a distribution, and half the jobs fall below it. What you are paid depends on your region, the employer, your qualifications and the negotiation. The figure here is for orientation, not prediction.
Does the site list job vacancies?
No. We publish no vacancies, accept no CVs and broker no hiring. What exists here is pay statistics, written explanation and, in the public-competition sections, a record of notices published in official gazettes with a link to the original act.
Why does a page sometimes show no figure?
Because the official sample is too small, or the agency itself flagged the estimate as unreliable. An average over too few observations describes nothing — so the page says that plainly, shows what does exist, and is not indexed on Google.
Do you say which career to pick, or how to pass an exam?
No. The site gives no career advice, sells no courses, recommends no training provider and promises neither a pass nor a pay rise. It shows the official figure, the period it refers to, and how that figure is calculated — the decision is yours.
Can I use these figures in a dispute or a pay calculation?
Not as evidence. Use them to compare and to find the source: the official link is on the page itself. Entitlements, applicable minimums and contractual terms depend on the agreement in force and on a qualified professional.
How is the site funded?
By advertising. Ads do not influence which occupations get a page or what the text says, and no union, school, agency or employer pays for prominence. We accept no paid links and no sponsored posts.
I found an error. What do I do?
Write through the contact page, naming the page and the figure. If you send the link to the official source with the right value, the correction ships the same day.
