Cookie policy

A small file a site stores in your browser so it can recognise that browser on a later visit. It gives no access to your files or your camera; it is used to count visits, remember a preference and pick an ad.

Some are set by us, others by companies that deliver part of the page — that is the case for the ads and the video player.

This site serves readers in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada, and also in Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal and Brazil. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, personalised advertising may only be shown with consent collected through a platform certified under the industry framework. That is why a notice appears in those regions asking first — and your choice counts: refuse, and the ads stay but stop being personalised.

Outside those regions you can switch personalisation off at any time in your Google account ad settings, or through the industry opt-out tools listed on the privacy page.

We build no professional profile of anyone. The site does not know which occupation you looked up, does not store that against you and does not sell lists of people interested in a job, a course or an exam — there would be nothing to sell, because there is no sign-up.

No cookie here decides content: the page you see is the same for everyone, including for people who block everything.

Every browser lets you delete stored cookies and block new ones, per site or across the board. Look for "cookies" or "site data" in your browser settings.

Blocking everything does not break this site: you can still read every page, with every table and every chart. What may stop working is the embedded video and the audience count.
